That job is left to the queen, who is slighly larger, overall, and grossly larger in the abdomen, when she's laying eggs. | Not a ruler at all, just mama to all the bees. Her plump abdomen is evidence of her status as an egg-laying machine. She is usually surrounded by a cadre of attendants, as she is the most important member of the colony. | BIG eyes, stout body, and squared off butt, characterize the drones. He doesn't visit flowers, for which he's maligned, but he doesn't have the mothparts to drink nectar from a flower. |
