| The busy gal you see on the flowers...she's female, but not normally able to reproduce. That job is left to the queen, who is slighly larger, overall, and grossly larger in the abdomen, when she's laying eggs. | Not a ruler at all, just mama to all the bees. Her plump abdomen is evidence of her status as an egg-laying machine. She is usually surrounded by a cadre of attendants, as she is the most important member of the colony. | BIG eyes, stout body, and squared off butt, characterize the drones. He doesn't visit flowers, for which he's maligned, but he doesn't have the mothparts to drink nectar from a flower. |
